What We Do
Throughout the year, we organize volunteer work days, historical walking tours, and special commemorative events. Work days allow community members to actively participate in preservation projects, while tours and presentations explore the lives, legacies, and stories represented within Wichita’s historic cemeteries. These events help cultivate respect for our shared past and strengthen community stewardship for future generations.Schedule

Historic grave markers are fragile pieces of local history. Exposure to weather, erosion, and time can cause stones to lean, sink, crack, or become covered in biological growth. Our volunteers work to gently clean markers using preservation-appropriate methods, reset stones that have shifted, and stabilize monuments to prevent further deterioration. Through this work, we preserve not only stone and marble, but the memory and legacy of Wichita’s early residents.
Forms
Release Form – Required for all Work Day participants. Because our projects take place outdoors in active public spaces and involve hands-on restoration work, each volunteer is asked to review and sign a release form prior to participating. This helps ensure a safe, organized, and respectful environment for everyone involved.Consent To Repair – Headstones and monuments are owned by the Families of those interred. We must receive consent from that family before we can repair a stone.
